On the Feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God, August 28, 2025, His Eminence Metropolitan Lukijan of Buda celebrated the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy in the Serbian Kovin Monastery on the occasion of the monastery’s patronal feast.
Concelebrating with His Eminence were: Archpriest Zoran Ostojić, Episcopal Dean of Buda; Priest Predrag Popović from the Diocese of Braničevo; Archpriest Radovan Savić, parish priest of Lovra; Protosyncellus Varnava Knežević, Secretary of the Diocese of Buda; Protonamesnik Zoran Živić, parish priest of Kalaz; Synkellos Mitrofan Gajić, spiritual father of the Monastery of Grabovac; as well as Archdeacon Inokentije Lukin and Deacon Stefan Milisavljević.
Following the reading of the Gospel, Father Zoran Ostojić delivered a sermon on the passage and on the meaning of the Feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos.
The beauty of the Divine Liturgy was further enhanced by Milan Dujmov and the choir of the Church of St. George in Budapest.
Faithful from Serbian Kovin, Lovra, Čip, Budapest and the surrounding areas, as well as guests from Banja Luka and Serbia, prayerfully participated in the celebration of the Great Feast, partaking in the Holy Communion and thus bringing to a close the Dormition Fast.
After the Liturgy, a procession took place around the monastery church with the reading of prescribed Gospel passages, followed by the blessing and cutting of the festal bread at the Cross in the monastery courtyard.
At the end of the service, His Eminence Metropolitan Lukijan blessed the gathered faithful and extended his congratulations on the feast to the hosts — Archimandrite Metodije and Deacon Andraš Šoljom — as well as to all present.
