Archimandrite Metodije (secular name: Miloš Marković) was born on September 7, 1987, in Vranje, Serbia. He completed his primary education in his hometown and graduated from the Theological Seminary of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Niš. He continued his studies at the Moscow Theological Academy, followed by postgraduate studies in Venice, while also spending part of his education and training in Germany and Italy. In this way, he gained rich spiritual and academic experience, which he later integrated into his pastoral service.
He took monastic vows in 2012 at the Monastery of Saint Nicholas in Vranje, receiving the name Metodije. He served in the Diocese of Vranje, was the head of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Vranje, and later became the abbot of the Monastery of Prohor Pčinjski.
Since 2024, Archimandrite Metodije has been the abbot of the Serbian Kovin Monastery in Hungary. As the head of the monastery, he is dedicated to liturgical life and the preservation of the Orthodox faith, as well as to spiritual care for Serbs living in the diaspora. Under his leadership, the monastery has become a place of gathering, spiritual renewal, and a witness of Orthodoxy in a multicultural environment.
Through his work and service, Archimandrite Metodije demonstrates that the Church is a living space of communion and spiritual growth. As abbot of Serbian Kovin, he is devoted to preserving its rich spiritual and cultural heritage, while building a living community in which Serbs in Hungary and the diaspora can experience the Church as their true home.
