The Serbian Kovin Monastery, the oldest Serbian Orthodox foundation in Hungary and the only active male Orthodox monastery in the country, is reopening as a place of monastic life after more than two and a half centuries. Monastic life here had been interrupted following the 1777 decree of Empress Maria Theresa, when the monastery was suppressed.
With the restoration of monastic life, this holy place once again assumes its role as a spiritual center and stronghold for Orthodox faithful in the diaspora, continuing the legacy of its glorious past.
You are warmly invited to join us in witnessing and celebrating this historic and significant moment:
Date: November 1, 2025
